Well-Being Overwhelm

Well-being; the state of being comfortable, healthy, or happy.

If you’re anything like me your Inbox, your Facebook & Instagram Feeds are full of inspirational people telling us what we should and shouldn’t be doing for our well-being. The next best thing you should be doing for your self-care, what you should be eating, how you should be exercising.

One of the best things I’ve done over the last month is unsubscribe to nearly every email I receive aside from a select few. All of the courses I should be signing up for, the clothing sales I apparently need to know about, the new book that I have been waiting for that is finally going to change my life … you get the picture.

It can be quite overwhelming and sometimes unless we are doing everything, we do nothing … you feel me?

I’m already thinking this blog post is a little contradictory in itself if I share some ideas of how you can streamline your inspiration and do away with the analysis paralysis to help you to take clear steps towards achieving your goals as opposed to spending time watching other people living your goals out loud. Here are some things that have helped me to far in 2020:

  1. I’ve spent time unsubscribing to generic emails as they come in
  2. I’ve taken note of how I’m feeling as I scroll my feed
  3. Unfollowed or muted* many accounts that no longer inspire me

As we change, grow and evolve our needs change, who inspires us changes and just having a good old purge is so good for the soul.

People don’t get alerted when you unfollow them. If you are not ready to break up with them just yet by unfollowing then you can always mute* them

Remember, you can always re-subscribe or re-follow anything/anyone that you start to miss, chances are you will just make room for the people that most fit with where you are and where you want to go.

* How to mute on Instagram: hold down on their story icon at the top of your feed and select mute, from there it will ask if you’d like to mute just their story or their stories and posts.
